CTC-VIS — the Clean Truck Check Vehicle Inspection System — is CARB's online portal where fleets register their vehicles, pay the annual compliance fee, and track test results. Getting set up correctly is the foundation of staying compliant.
What Is CTC-VIS?
CTC-VIS is the official database that ties your vehicles to the Clean Truck Check program. It's where CARB records your compliance fee payment, stores your test results, and communicates your compliance status to the DMV. If you operate affected diesel vehicles in California, you need an account.
Before You Start
Have the following ready for each vehicle:
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
- License plate and state of registration
- Engine model year and GVWR
- Your business / responsible-party contact information
Step-by-Step Registration
- Create your account. Go to CARB's Clean Truck Check portal and register as the responsible party for your fleet.
- Add your vehicles. Enter each vehicle by VIN so the system can match it to the correct emissions requirements.
- Pay the compliance fee. An annual per-vehicle compliance fee is required to keep each vehicle active in the program.
- Confirm your reporting deadlines. The system shows each vehicle's testing deadline, which is tied to its registration date.
- Have your tests reported. When you complete a Clean Truck Check, your tester uploads passing results directly into CTC-VIS.
We Report Your Results For You
Once your account and vehicles are set up in CTC-VIS, our certified technicians perform your inspection and submit the results to the system on your behalf — so your compliance status updates automatically. Confused about which test you'll need? See Clean Truck Check vs smog check.
Keeping Your Account Compliant
- Pay the annual compliance fee for every active vehicle.
- Complete required tests before each vehicle's deadline.
- Remove or update vehicles you sell or retire.
